Well, the big run up to Christmas; the waiting, hoping, guessing, rushing, for what? It's over now!
How many of you received and iPad, or a Glaxy Tab?
PS3, Wii or Xbox 360? Kindle, Nook or neither? Kinect or Move? There's literally millions of people who had new bits of tech, yet there's equally millions who received socks. Or pants.
Why do we insist on lavish gifts, when we could wait for January sales?
Because, my gadget loving muffins, us tech heads are going to face a hard year in 2011.
VAT is increasing from 17.5% to 20%. That's an increase of over £500 for households a year, and us tech heads even more.
Let's Break it down, shall we:
An Apple MacBook Air today will cost you £999, whereas after the VAT increase, you'll pay £1,020.25
Samsung Galaxy Tab: £529- £540.25
Sony VPL-VW90ES: £6,000- £6,117.66
You get the picture. Obviously those were rather high priced gadgets before the increase, but it will effect all gadgets, games etc.
"Yeah, yeah, what are you saying, oh mighty Beever?"
Well dear one, I'm saying if you didn't splash out on an iPad, top of the line Mac/PC, smartphone, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, watches, iPods, surround sound system, 50"+ 3D TV, bluray player, Kinect, Playstation Move, 5TB hard drive, thousands of games, home security system, outlandish robot toys, and iPod/iPad/iPhone dock this year, then you, my friend shall be paying that bit extra for your gadgets in 2011.
The Beever has spoken.
