Uncharted 3 Will Require PSN Pass
Sony España Software Manager Juan Jiménez confirmed that a code will be needed to play Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception's online features (included with the retail copy). Those with a used copy of the game will need to purchase a code for $10 from the PlayStation Store before they can play online.

I Am Alive Coming to PSN and Xbox Live
Post-apocalypse Survival (finally) heading your way.
We were incredibly excited about I Am Alive when we first heard about it, but since then it's been nothing but whispers and rumours -- Until now!
Ubisoft has announced that I Am Alive will be coming to PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade this winter.
Developed by Ubisoft Shanghai, I Am Alive is set in a world ravaged by an unspecified disaster and players are cornered into making "thought-provoking" choices.
But why download only? It seems that Ubisoft, even after this long wait, has made I Am Alive somewhat a low priority.
Of course, for a download title it looks incredible, so who knows, eh.

Escape Plan: An experience tailor-made for Vita.
Escape Plan's strongest selling point (other than its stunning looks) is that you truly do get a game that's made with the Vita in mind, a title that couldn't be played on any other console or handheld, whether it be on Xbox, a 3DS, an iPad, or a PlayStation 3. That's not to say it 'couldn't' work, I suppose all that would change is the control scheme, but that's the key; lose the Vita control scheme, and you've lost part of the charm.
Escape Plan is a puzzle game where you must guide two characters -- the short and skinny Lil and the tall and fat Laarg (pronounced "large") -- through various rooms in strange environments, such as a factory, a prison, a garbage dump and a workshop. All done utilising Vita's front touchscreen and back touch pad, all to marvellous effect.

Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta: Now Non-Playstation Plus Members Can Get In On The Action
If you wasn't a Playstation Plus member or owned InFamous 2, or for whatever reason you decided not to take the 30 Day trial from the Welcome Back pack, you were missing out on the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta.
Bad times, eh?
Well, fear not, for now you can download the Beta and join in the fun! Head over to the Playstation Store and grab it now!
Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta: Verdict So Far
If like myself, you're one of the millions that has been eagerly anticipating the release of the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta; the first chance to sample Uncharted 3 with your own bare hands.
Well, yesterday saw the big launch, so it begs the question— is it any good?
In a nutshell...HELL YEAH!!!!
There are nine modes. Team Deathmatch, 3-Team Deathmatch (three teams of two face off), Team Objective (complete the assigned goals), Free For All (kill everyone), Plunder (capture the treasure), High Stakes (gamble with your XP and cash), and three co-op modes.
Player wise, the modes offer reasonable groups of players- Team Deathmatch, Team Objective and Plunder are 5v5. Three-Team Deathmatch is 2v2v2. Free for All and High Stakes are 8 players, whilst the Co-op modes vary.
What are the maps like?
You get two choices; an airfield one and a French chateau. Both pack plenty of climbing and off real time dynamic events to keep the matches lively, like attacking planes and collapsing structures. All in all, quite nice and entertaining.
Power Plays feature in the demo, granting you a total of 9. Power Plays are 1 minute events that occur to the losing team, just to help you out.
Marked Man - A person on the winning team is marked, and the losing team gets 3 points if they kill him. Meanwhile, the winning team gets double cash for each kill and a special medal if the Marked Man doesn't die.
Cursed - The winning team sees all characters as skeletons and friendly fire is turned on. Each time the losing team gets a kill or the winning team kills one of its own, the losing team gets two points. Meanwhile, the winning team gets double cash for each member of the losing team killed.
Exposed - The winning team's location is revealed to the losing team. The winning team gets double cash for each losing team member killed.
Double Damage - Losing team inflicts double damage. Winning team earns double cash for each kill.
The Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta features eight boosters (equipable abilities that affect gameplay) spread over two slots;
Booster Slot 1 Options
Come Here - See the opponent that killed you on your radar until he or she dies.
Retaliation - Spawn with the Power Weapon you were killed by.
Cloaked - Opponents won't see you on the radar and you can't be heard.
Weapon Expert - Gives you the ability to add additional mods to you weapons.
Booster Slot 2 Options
Back in the Saddle - Reduces your respawn time.
Bargain - Decreases the cost of Medal Kickbacks. (Special powers you set before the game and have to earn in a match.)
Power Hunter - See the location of Power Weapons.
Daredevil - When you taunt over a defeated opponent, you get extra ammo.
Co-op Booster Slot 1
Scoped In – Co-op Reduced pain wobble while scoped in
Regeneration – Co-op Recover from wounds faster
Beast Mode – Co-op Move faster with heavy objects
Co-op Booster Slot 2
Monkey Man – co-op Increase traversal speed
Bargain – Co-op Decrease Medal Kickback cost
Back in the Saddle – Co-op Respawn time reduced by a specified time
Co-op Medal Kickbacks
Militia Man – Co-op No reloading
Team Medic -- Heal yourself and teammates
Speedy G – Co-op Speed Boost
Mega Bomb – Co-op One massive grenade explosion Army of Three Doubles the damage of all players within a specified distance
Gameplay wise, it doesn't feel much different from Uncharted 2, which is no bad thing, as I felt instantly comfortable. Obviously as this is the first Beta, there are a few bugs, but they're perfectly playable.
A few people have cited that the Beta is prone to freezing; which I did encounter. But I realised that just leaving the PS3 (not turning it off), it soon sorts itself out, and I was back into matchmaking in a few minutes.
What worried me the most about the beta, was that ALOT of people are crazy levels ahead. I was doing pretty well (as my "thrust" taunt after every kill will tell), yet I'm only just nearing level 4. But they're are quite a few level 15+ players, and although we here Europe didn't get the beta till around 9:30pm, those crazy Americans must have booked time off school/work to get some serious Uncharted 3 game time in (which if you did, Tech Beever salutes you).
So far I've only been playing for the best part of a day, but over the weekend I'll be getting deeply pulled into the awesome Uncharted 3, all in preparation for that impending November release...

Call Of Duty: Black Ops PS3 Bundle
American Gamers will soon be able to get their hands on a 160Gb Playstation 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops bundle, along with the First Strike Content Pack, which features five diverse globe-spanning multiplayer maps (including a new Zombie experience), all for $299.00.
No word on a European release, but we're sure it won't be far off.
So if you haven't bit the bullet and got yourself a PS3, nows a great chance.

PSN Updates
Whilst we wouldn't recommend settling down for your "Welcome Back" package just yet, but it seems we have a date to hope that the Playstation Network will resume. According to Gamasutra, May 24 is the big day.
If it happens, you'll be able to choose two free games, from Dead Nation, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD (if you're American), whilst Europe will get LittleBigPlanet, Infamous, Wipeout HD/Fury, Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty and Dead Nation, with PSP users also getting in on the action.
These, and other freebies will be available as soon as the PSN is fully resumed. Now, if only the game line-up could change to good, new titles...

Sony Appologies With Free Games
With all that's happened with the PSN hack, Sony is apologising to it's consumers the best way it knows how; with free games.
Us here in Europe can choose two PS3 games from the choices of-

Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
Dead Nation*
PSP users will be able to download two games from the choices of-
LittleBigPlanet PSP
ModNation PSP
Pursuit Force
Killzone Liberation*
As well as:
- 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PS Plus subscribers*
- Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will be given 60 days free subscription.
- For existing Music Unlimited subscribers, you will be given 30 days free subscription.
Sony also state:
- We are working on a Welcome Back offer in PlayStation Home and will share that when it is confirmed.
Users in North America can download two of the following for free-

The titles are available for 30 days after the Store is made available, and once they're downloaded, there's yours to keep. It may be too little too late for some users, and quite frankly, the selection is somewhat stale, as the majority of PS3 users will already own the likes of inFamous and littleBIGplanet.

-A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
-30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.

-Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.

PSN Outage, Is It Over?
Well, the moment millions of PSN users have been waiting for is here- the restoration of the Playstation Network. Since this morning, Sony have been sending the updates around the world, with the first countries being North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland and unspecified nations in the Middle East. Although we don't have a fancy map for you to keep track of, you can keep up to date via Sony's official Playstation Europe Twitter account, by clicking the link below.

Sony Announces PSN Hack "may have obtained credit card details"
An announcent on BBC news has left many PSN users (including us!) predicibly angry at the PSN downtimes, blaming the situation on hackers.
Nick Caplin, the company's head of communications for Europe, said: "We have discovered that between April 17 and April 19 2011, certain PlayStation Network and Qriocity service user account information was compromised in connection with an illegal and unauthorized intrusion into our network".
You can read the full report here, where Caplin goes on to state that "It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained."

PSN Downage Leaves Infamous 2 Beta Open
Following the recent PSN problem, developer Sucker Punch has left the Infamous 2 Beta open for a short while longer.
The developer, who handed out invites for players to create levels for Cole in the sequel, tweeted this earlier:
Since PSN users are unable to take their PS3's online, Sucker Punch have extended the Beta for a short period, although just how long remains to be seen.
