Batman: Arkham City: Is This AA's Nightwing?

Portuguese forum says yes.

As pointed out via trophies, Nightwing – aka Dick Grayson and formerly Robin – is in Batman: Arkham City. Now, Arkhamcity.co.uk has posted the following screenshots of Bruce Wayne's former ward from Portuguese forum zwame.pt claiming that the following shots are the real deal.

Batman: Arkham City's Nightwing, Catwoman DLC

Trophies Spill the Beans

PS3Trophies.org has the Arkham City Trophy list posted, and it has two interesting items under DLC – two Nightwing trophies and a slew of Catwoman ones.

They show Nightwing (aka Dick Grayson, the first Robin) is a playable character in challenge maps, but it also points out that Catwoman isn't included on Arkham City disc. Most likely, Catwoman missions come via a code bundled in with the game, as the Joker maps in Batman: Arkham Asylum did. So if you buy Arkham City second hand, be prepared to pay extra for the goods via Xbox Live or PSN.

Is This The Robin We'll See In Arkham City?

Sure, we've had concept art of Robin for one of our most anticipated games, Batman: Arkham City, but is this the final look?

It's episode 4 of the Arkham City mini series; a comic series bridging the gap between Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, and the latest instalment sees the Boy Wonder in new threads *gasp* on patrol without Batman. We've posted some pics below to goad you into buying the digital only comic (c'mon, it's only 59p).

It's not far off the concept art, but we're still not totally loving the hood, but the whole look gives the boy wonder a kind of Assassins Creed/inFamous kind of vibe.

And that's fine with us.

Batman: Arkham City; Robin Explained

Speaking on the Arkham City community forums, Senior Concept Artist Kan Mutfic has given the "final word" on the team's vision for Robin. Here's what he had to say:

"We wanted to create a Robin that players would identify as a contemporary character and move away from the traditional "Boy Wonder" image that most people know. Our vision of Robin is the one of a troubled young individual that is calm and introverted at times but very dangerous and aggressive if provoked. The shaved head is inspired by cage fighters, because we thought that Robin might be doing that in his spare time to keep him on his toes. Still, we kept all the classic trademarks of Robin's appearance, such as the red and yellow colors of his outfit, the cape and the mask.

We really hope that people will discover our Robin as one of their new favorite characters in the Batman universe. He is back and he means business." KAN MUTFIC, JULY 2011

What's he talking about? Here's a pic to wet your appetite;

Robin Unveiled In Batman: Arkham City

We have our first-look at Robin from Batman: Arkham City, courtesy of retailer Best Buy, which published the image of the Boy Wonder on its website yesterday.

Robin will be an exclusive pre-order character to play in the game's challenge maps through Best Buy in North America.

The Best Buy listing:
While supplies last, pre-order the game for an exclusive downloadable Robin character. Robin is a fully playable character in the new and improved challenge mode in Batman: Arkham City. The Tim Drake Robin pack is available exclusively to fans who pre-order the game from Best Buy on Xbox 360, PC and PS3.

We imagine Robin will be available to Europe an the rest of the world in DLC form, but it's unclear at this time.

Batman: Arkham City Gameplay Footage Official

Holy Freakin Footage! We have the gameplay trailer for Batman Arkham City, and it is awesome! Embedded video below. We think there's a little tip that another villain, Black Mask, may be in the game. Can you spot him? Correct us if we're wrong!

Batman: Arkham City Gameplay Footage

Firstly, this isn't exactly the video we've all been waiting for, but we'll take what we can. Anyway, the video (which was available to American Xbox users) gives us a tiny preview of Arkham City, and although many folks are debating the legitimacy of the footage, take note that we've tried our hardest to find the area shown in the video in Arkham Asylum, and it doesn't exist. Also, the new HUD points to the video being the real deal, so here's hoping eh? You can check the embedded video below, but be prepared- it's pretty poor quality.

Amazing Batman: Arkham City Trailer Premier

A new trailer for Batman: Arkham City was shown off at the VGAs in Los Angeles last night - and unmasked villain Dr. Hugo Strange.
The video shows Strange injecting a leader of the Tyger security group with a pair of (truth?) serums, to force him to recount the events of a mission to take Batman down. Strange admits that he knew Tyger would fail - but that the mission was merely "one more twist of the knife".

We see Bats tackles hordes of armed guards on a rainy rooftop - culminating in him chucking a smoke bomb and grappling away to safety. He hangs Strange's poor suspect over a ledge and barks: "Who sent you?!"

The commander tells Batman that Strange is calling the shots. The next scene sees Strange talking directly to Batman, boasting that he "knows everything" about him - including his real identity. The rain-soaked Bat looks a little flustered at the news.

Arkham City is due for release on PS3, 360 and PC in autumn 2011.
