Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Confirmed

It's official, Mass Effect 3 will have multiplayer.

In a preview of its November issue of Australian games magazine PC PowerPlay, its website says,
"That's right - Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer! We travel to BioWare's office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series' first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy."

Saving the gallaxy with friends? Damn right.

Mass Effect 3 To Get 'Killer New Feature'

BioWare is set to announce a new feature of Mass Effect 3 next month.

In the next issue of Xbox World, on sale October 25, Bioware is to unveil a "killer new feature" for Mass Effect 3.

'Industry 'sources' and other reports have supported claims that the game will come with a "Horde-style multiplayer mode," as well as established multiplayer types such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag.

But BioWare dismissed forum chatter on the subject when a rep said: "Mass Effect 3 is a single-player game."

Guess we'll know when Xbox World goes on sale in 24 days!

Mass Effect MMO?

Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk have confirmed that they're interested in a Mass Effect MMO.

Speaking to IndustryGamers, the BioWare co-founders explained that they're open to the idea of expanding the game's world.

"You never know," Zeschuk said. "I think once The Old Republic is done, we'll take a fresh look at the market. And we'll have learned a lot. While making it, you learn an enormous amount."

"We're focused very much on The Old Republic, Mass Effect 3 and Wrath of Heroes, and all the other things we've announced, and haven't announced," Muzyka said, "but we also have the opportunity to look at our franchises in a way we haven't ever before. There are lots of new platforms and lots of new business models."

"It's one of the nice things about having these properties in our back pocket. If we want to use something we own as a source for a game, it's easy to do," Zeschuk added. "So yeah, you never know. We've got this giant product to launch, but once that's done we'll consider next steps."

Mass Effect 3 will release on March 6th for PS3, 360 and PC.

Mass Effect 3: Decisions Mean Everything

Bioware producer Casey Hudson has shed some light on the decisions of Mass Effect 3 -- decisions that will alter everything.

"With the first one, we're kind of launching everything, and we're kind of throwing up these huge threads to the later stories," said Casey Hudson in an interview with Destructoid.

"And then with the second one, we're kind of inbetween. It's actually the toughest one to make, because it has to work with previous stuff and still tie-in with other stuff a little bit later.

"But with Mass Effect 3, this is really the opportunity to do whatever we want with the remainder of the story, which means players can do whatever they want with the remainder of the story. Your decision can have much bigger consequences, things that you've done earlier can have much bigger consequences.

"So we can really throw around a lot of big impacts from your decisions, from prior games and from decisions you'll make in Mass Effect 3.

"It's really astronomical. The number of different ways that you can play it, the combinations of different decisions that you can make, and then all the different ways that the story can end up depending on what you're doing.

"The whole story, the whole galaxy ends in a way that you're going to decide."
